Summary
Kerion celsi is inflammatory and suppurating tinea located on the back of the neck, scalp, or beard, but also sometimes on glabrous skin. It is formed on one or two round, honeycomb-like lesions into relief covered with follicular pustules and cause alopecia. They are due to animal fungi: Trichophyton mentagrophytes (horses, mice), Trichophyton ochraceum and T. verrucosum (cattle). They heal spontaneously within a few weeks, but may leave permanent cicatricial alopecia. Consequently systemic treatment should be given early on in the disease to be efficient. *Author: P.
