Summary

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a malformative communication between a pulmonary artery and a pulmonary vein leading to a right to left extracardiac shunt which can result in an altered oxygenation of blood in the lungs with a risk of paradoxical embolism and brain abcesses.
