Summary
Quinquaud's folliculitis decalvans or depilans is a type of scarring alopecia of the scalp producing patches with slowly centrifugal spread. Their edge is covered with active follicular pustulae that are progressively and permanently replaced with scaring fibrosis. Folliculitis depilans as described by Quinquaud in 1888 only affected the scalp. However equivalent forms may affect other hairy areas of the body. *Author: P. Reygagne, M.D. (May 2002)*
