Phenotypes associated with the disease Maternal hyperthermia-induced birth defects (ORPHA:2216):
- Cleft palate (HP:0000175): Cleft palate is a developmental defect of the palate resulting from a failure of fusion of the palatine processes and manifesting as a separation of the roof of the mouth (soft and hard palate). Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Microcephaly (HP:0000252): Head circumference below 2 standard deviations below the mean for age and gender. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Seizure (HP:0001250): A seizure is an intermittent abnormality of nervous system physiology characterized by a transient occurrence of signs and/or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Very frequent (HP:0040281). (ORPHA:2216)
- Hypotonia (HP:0001252): Hypotonia is an abnormally low muscle tone (the amount of tension or resistance to movement in a muscle). Even when relaxed, muscles have a continuous and passive partial contraction which provides some resistance to passive stretching. Hypotonia thus manifests as diminished resistance to passive stretching. Hypotonia is not the same as muscle weakness, although the two conditions can co-exist. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Very frequent (HP:0040281). (ORPHA:2216)
- Hypertonia (HP:0001276): A condition in which there is increased muscle tone so that arms or legs, for example, are stiff and difficult to move. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Occasional (HP:0040283). (ORPHA:2216)
- Joint stiffness (HP:0001387): Joint stiffness is a perceived sensation of tightness in a joint or joints when attempting to move them after a period of inactivity. Joint stiffness typically subsides over time. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Intrauterine growth retardation (HP:0001511): An abnormal restriction of fetal growth with fetal weight below the tenth percentile for gestational age. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Abnormality of neuronal migration (HP:0002269): An abnormality resulting from an anomaly of neuronal migration, i.e., of the process by which neurons travel from their origin to their final position in the brain. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- EEG abnormality (HP:0002353): Abnormality observed by electroencephalogram (EEG), which is used to record of the brain's spontaneous electrical activity from multiple electrodes placed on the scalp. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Very frequent (HP:0040281). (ORPHA:2216)
- Clinodactyly of the 5th finger (HP:0004209): Clinodactyly refers to a bending or curvature of the fifth finger in the radial direction (i.e., towards the 4th finger). Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Short stature (HP:0004322): A height below that which is expected according to age and gender norms. Although there is no universally accepted definition of short stature, many refer to "short stature" as height more than 2 standard deviations below the mean for age and gender (or below the 3rd percentile for age and gender dependent norms). Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Very frequent (HP:0040281). (ORPHA:2216)
- Bilateral single transverse palmar creases (HP:0007598): The distal and proximal transverse palmar creases are merged into a single transverse palmar crease on both hands. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Aplasia/Hypoplasia affecting the eye (HP:0008056). Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Hypoplasia of penis (HP:0008736). Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Midface retrusion (HP:0011800): Posterior positions and/or vertical shortening of the infraorbital and perialar regions, or increased concavity of the face and/or reduced nasolabial angle. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Frequent (HP:0040282). (ORPHA:2216)
- Cognitive impairment (HP:0100543): Abnormal cognition is characterized by deficits in thinking, reasoning, or remembering. Evidence: TAS. Frequency: Very frequent (HP:0040281). (ORPHA:2216)
